too busy making money to blog!

So I've been making cards, so far just for new babies and friend's children's (this sentence is an apostophe nightmare!) birthdays but that counts as saving money. If I can sort out the centering problem when printing I'm confident I can sell them.

I bought and sold 6 calendars making a small profit and have made and sold 2 starsuits and have now covered the cost of the fabric so next one sold is into profit making something, can't think of the word!

Will have to decide whether I want an Etsy shop and to declare myself self employed.

I also made 6p selling my clary sage oil, that was a low point.

I've given up on the spend nothing for 7 days challenge. Well 7 consecutive days anyway! Unless you stay in everyday (with 3 boys ha!) it's near impossible. I have done quite a few £0 spend days though.

Spending money to make money

That doesn't count in my 'spend no money for 7 days' challenge does it?

Went shopping with my mum and bought 50 6x6 cards to make a wedding and new baby card and then hopefully sell copies of them. Also spotted soem Organised Mum pregnancy planners for less than the £9.99 they currently sell for on the internet so got some of those to sell too.

So far so good.

Oh and also had dinner at mum's so free beans (I brought the bread!) and my Dad has gone off his tea bags (?!) so free tea for Joe too.

Saving money going well...

......but too tired to make any.

Sunday I made cherry scones having already made banana loaf and today I made banana muffins, these replace what I would usually spend on 'breakfast picnics' otherwise known as snacks for the boys to eat when they come down before me in the mornings if I'm in bed feeding Ellis.

I've also been remembering to unplug stuff and turn lights out.

We walked to the library today avoiding shops again. Quite enjoying walking with the boys, apart from the dog poo!

An easy day

So I thought yesterday would be easy, big boys at nanna's no plans to do anything so therefore no money spent.
Then Joe said he was going to Decathalon to get a new light for his bike with his £5 Christmas money from Louise but he needed a £1 as the lights were £6. So I told him where to find a £1 and decided it's my 101 challenge not to spend for 7 days so his spending doesn't count. I can still say I didn't spend any money for 7 days can't I?

He came back with lights costing £10, I don't think he's getting it is he?

Today he is at work with no cash so I have high hopes for success. We're going to feed the (free) ducks with Laura and Imogen and will not be going near any shops.

Day One

So I decided to kick start the year of minimal spending or only spending when necessary (we haven't settled on specifics!) with a task from my 101 list which is to 'spend nothing for 7 days.' I thought it'd be a good way to start and would get me in the right frame of mind.

Joe gave his brother a lift to the hospital where his wife and newborn son are and I was thinking of the petrol he used and how much it cost and was giving your brother a lift a necessity and at the same time thinking this year is going to turn me into The Grinch!

Whilst he was gone I sent the 2 big boys upstairs to play and put the littlest down for a nap and started to vacuum (settles baby and cleans the house) I'm thinking, this uses electricity and I could brush up instead? Then I realise we need £2 for the car park when we go to visit our one day old nephew later so there goes day one of spending nothing for 7 days. Bah Humbug!

I'm in a Very Bad Mood when Joe returns as I feel like I've failed already and then he starts up the internet to look for a punch bag bracket for the punch bag he is going to buy with his Christmas Decathalon vouchers, I'm wondering if a punch bag / bracket are necessities and getting madder by the second. I don't want to do this challenge alone, I don't want to be The Grinch and it is going to be hard.

I moan to Joe about failing on day one and he huffs and puffs about me moaning, I really don't want to moan but I'm not sure that this is going to work with only one of us being dedicated to it. I decide the punch bag is definitely a necessity.
